A.5. Chasing the White Rabbit
Inspired by “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” written by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, Chasing the White Rabbit is a vertical labyrinth of circulation that plays with the illusion of growing and shrinking through a continuous change in scale of stairs and openings.
The experiential sequence has two main circulations: an outer staircase that wraps around the hidden one in the core of the structure. The outside stairs grow in scale as one travels up whereas the core stairs grow as one travels down, enhancing the rhythm and feeling of confusion.
The two models represent the narrative: the left depicts the solid staircase structure while the right shows the void of the changing stairs.
